Debt collection agency in Ecuador

FEXCOB has operated in Ecuador for more than twenty years, with its own offices in Quito and Guayaquil. We work for banks, credit unions and commercial companies across the country.

The landscape Ecuadorian creditors face

Delinquency at large credit unions reached 8.3% in June 2026, according to the SEPS (Superintendency of Popular and Solidarity Economy), up from 6.42% in June 2023. Microloans reached 10.81%.

Behind those figures is an operational reality: portfolios that grew faster than the capacity to manage them, overwhelmed in-house teams, and provisioning decisions made on accounting data rather than collectability data.

The framework we work within

Debt collection in Ecuador is not a rule-free zone, and that is where improvised providers most often go wrong.

Three different supervisory frameworks coexist within a single Ecuadorian portfolio. A provider that cannot tell them apart creates liabilities.

  • Differentiated supervision

The Superintendency of Banks (Superintendencia de Bancos) and the Superintendency of Popular and Solidarity Economy (Superintendencia de Economía Popular y Solidaria) each have their own criteria for risk rating, provisioning and write-offs.

  • Personal data protection

All collection activity is carried out under LOPDP (personal data protection law) protocols.

  • Court proceedings

Executory, payment-order (monitorio) and ordinary proceedings, with precautionary measures such as attachments and prohibitions on transfer of assets.
